I am not the kind of person who usually watches Stupid Pet Trick-type videos, and certainly not the kind of person who inflicts said videos on other people, but:
In this case, I cannot resist. The bouncing dog in this video is named Moishe and belongs to my cousin Barbara Koltuv, who is the person on the other end of the leash, taking Moishe for a bounce in Washington Square Park in New York. I finally stopped laughing about the 17th time I watched the video. Barbara says the bouncing is always accompanied by barking, but otherwise it’s hard to say what causes the bouncing itself. I feel that the guitar music in the background only heightens the strange effect.

I HAVE SEEN THAT DOG. I am not from New York, but I saw that wonderful hilarious dog when I was visiting friends in the city in the springtime. I am delighted to see him on the internet!

I have a std. poodle, too. And he bounces A LOT!
Hilarious video. Thanks for sharing.

Amazing! A 30-second video clip from Washington Square Park, and no drug dealers (“Smoke?”) are visible!

Here is what Douglas Adams has to say on the topic:
“‘Stotting’ is jumping upward with all four legs simultaneously. My advice: do not die until you’ve seen a large black poodle stotting in the snow.”
I think stotting would indeed be the appropriate word here.
