Merry Christmas and R.I.P.

Laura Levine is a friend of mine who these days is known for her primitive-sophisticated illustrations but who used to shoot a lot of great photos of musicians. Here’s her photo of James Brown, taken in NYC in 1984, posted here on the day of his death.

    That’s a magnificent photo. I purchased a double cd of James Brown’s first recordings and it’s absolutely amazing. Rest in Peace James. You were an icon and will be missed. That his last moments on earth were giving presents to the less fortunate is amazing and should outweigh the mistakes he made in his life.
