Our resident quote bleggar Fred Shapiro, editor of The Yale Book of Quotations, is back with another request. If you have a bleg of your own — it needn’t have anything to do with quotations — send it along here.
I would welcome suggestions of what are the most famous quotations of all time from comic books or graphic novels. These could be not only one-time quotations, but also recurring catchphrases.

“Less then a thimble-full of iodine divides the intellectual from the imbecile. Of which phenomenon I shall forthwith attempt a demonstration.”
-Dr. Gull, From Hell
The trouble with this is that catchphrases are pretty well known, but it’s hard to think of too many passages from actually good comics where the dialogue is memorable enough to pop out. There must be something good in Jimmy Corrigan, but without that great pacing the comic provides, it probably just comes out sort of dry and mopey
Shazam!
“We have met the enemy, and he is us” – Pogo (Walt Kelly)
Holy [insert noun], Batman!! -Robin
“With great power comes great responsibility.” – Spiderman
“Shazam!”
“Wonder twin powers – ACTIVATE!” (Well, OK, technically from a cartoon show…)
“Any view of things that is not strange is false.” – Sandman
“I’m the best at what I do” – Wolverine
“Avengers Assemble!” – the Avengers
“With great power comes great responsibility” – Spider-man’s Uncle Ben
“All your base are belong to us”
With great power comes great responsibility.
–Spider-Man, modified in later comics from the original “WITH GREAT POWER THERE MUST ALSO COME – - GREAT RESPONSIBILITY!”
