We recently ran a contest in which you were invited to submit requests for a custom-written song by Jonathan Mann, who writes and posts a song a day here. He first came to our attention because of his song “Hey, Paul Krugman.”
As it turns out, Mann has already written songs on a lot of topics that you requested, including zombie banks, swine flu, and endangered newspapers.
What he hadn’t written yet, however, was a Freakonomics theme song. That’s the request Mann decided to fulfill. It came from a reader named Spencer, who’ll get his choice of Freakonomics schwag for winning the contest.
So here it is, the theme song we never knew we needed but now wouldn’t want to live without. Thanks to all for participating, and especially to Jonathan Mann for lending his talents to our cause:

That’s fun! His facial expressions really added to the experience. Now you need to embed the song into the next book, as some greeting cards do.
So why isn’t he wearing some Freakonomics schwag?
Really well done, Jonathan! I enjoyed the humor of the video and your presentation was great. The song was great, too. Kudos!
Ha ha!
Although, it is fairly noticeable that this is song #162. Running out of lyrics
Against the amount and quality of this piece, his coverage of the Legend of Zelda (ok, I might be a bit biased there… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xg7_pvCbp8g) seems like a literary masterpiece..
Nevertheless, wheeee. Just tone down the robotic effects and get that guitar back out of the cupboard.
Also, I endorse the idea of putting this in the book’s next edition… though it might keep some people from reading (either for fear of opening or because they are too distracted)
I just love how the obvious answer freakonomics, wasn’t given for almost 3 hours and not until 1/2 through all the comments! I think thats whats freaky, and I really think Jonathan has stolen all my dance moves.
This seemed like a tall order. Despite the auto tuning, that’s actually a really good theme song.
Great song!! I agree with Marie though and think the songs with acoustic guitar are much better.
I was wondering if it was too late to make a request, but I’d like to hear one about the recent soccer transfer market activities, notbaly Ronaldo moving to Real Madrid for ?80million.
Cheers and keep up the good work!
Freakin LOVE it!
Keep it up Mann!
