Kyle Whelliston describes the secondary market for Olympics tickets in Vancouver. It’s a good deal more organized than you might think, complete with a manager: “Everything ran seamlessly. One man stood off to the side, wearing a Bluetooth headset; after each transaction, the placard-bearing buyer or seller would return to his area. He was the nerve center, the one who tracked inventory and set rates.” Meanwhile, the operation’s “banker” was in charge of “making sure that the foot soldiers were not carrying too many tickets (to maintain the appearance of scarcity) or cash (to make changing bills more difficult).” (HT: Tim Burke)[%comments]
Organized Ticket Scalping

“Even though consumers may not be too happy about this because they bring consumer surplus to almost nothing, they should be happy that the people who valued the tickets the most were able to get them.”
Are you absolutely kidding me? So a sports fan who follows a team and is more die hard then some snot nosed rich kid band-wagon fan… is not valued more so?
Lets get our values and morals aligned here people.
Scalping- Brokering (paid off to goverment legalized scalping) Is basically, soulless, emotionless, heartless, immoral, and utterly selfish.
Its the mastermind of GOP and atheist pussies who care only about themselves. The type of people that would sell soup cans at $10 a piece in a food shortage.
There’s a reason why a D is in office right now and surely, people who believe in Democracy wouldnt do suck ass things like scalp tickets.
It saddens me republican scumbag accountants have nothing better to do than play with finance. Then again they are ones that abandon their children and families- in pursuit of their money and selfishness.
Its time for the D’s to put a federal law in place- no ticket sales for more than 15% of face value. 80% of america makes less than $20 an hour.
Tickets are a supply and demand- so is our economy.
May the punks that want to charge 5x-10x the value, chew on their tickets in a breakfast sandwich.
