Gary Shteyngart isn’t just a novelist, and a pretty good novelist, but a novelist who is willing to cast himself in a Borat-like short film to promote his latest book. Some of you will think it is charming/hilarious, but I suspect more will find it unctuous. For James Franco fans also. I am curious to see what Shtenyngart is doing 20 years from now …

    It’s nice when a promo for a book gives me absolutely no idea as to what the book is about or whether I might like it.

    Truly, an amazingly content free promo. Amazing.
